ANTIQUES
“My passion for pure
design and the atmosphere of a piece have always been
the main attractions for me in the things I buy and sell.”
Christopher Howe 2003
The shop, located on the prestigious Pimlico road, incorporates
two businesses running along side each other - HOWE®,
a range of bespoke furniture & lighting, and Christopher
Howe Antiques.
In 1986, having just left university, Christopher Howe
took on a derelict shop in a small street off the Pimlico
Road. He opened the shop, lit by candlelight, using a
small bank loan and stock found in markets and borrowed
from friends. A year later, after some building work,
he reopened with a window displaying a Gae Aulenti lamp
and a pair of white vinyl Pierre Paulin Tulip chairs,
an innovative style which has remained the essence of
Christopher’s approach to antique dealing for the
past 17 years. In 1995 the shop moved to a much larger
premises on the Pimlico road where it remains today.
Christopher Howe Antiques offers an unusually varied stock
ranging from 17th & 18th century English country house
furniture to the Arts and Crafts of the19th century and
the innovation of the 20th century. A Geo II mahogany
side table sits happily next to a 1929 metal chest of
drawers by Californian designer Norman Bel Geddes. |
